Capcom has announced the release of Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition, an enhanced version of the latest Devil May Cry slasher. The re-release will be available digitally for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X.

Judging by the information available to us, the innovations mainly affected the game’s graphics. The developers took advantage of the next-gen console’s capabilities to introduce ray tracing mode, as well as set an ability to prioritize between screen resolution and FPS (up to 120 frames). There are also considerately small gameplay extensions – an accelerated x1.2 game mode and a new difficulty level – Legendary Dark Knight, which will definitely appeal to hardcore DMC fans. And of course, the main “highlight” for anybody who is somewhat familiar with the series – Vergil, Dante’s twin brother, obsessed with power, will become a playable character and provide new gameplay and dozens of new playthrough hours of DMC 5.

It is worth noting that Capcom hasn’t ignored the current generation of consoles. Unfortunately, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One cannot implement most of the graphical innovations due to their technical capabilities; however, adding Vergil’s gameplay is not that much of a strain for hardware, so the publisher will provide the character as a paid DLC.

DMC5: SE will be published November 10 and 12 – the days when PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will be published respectively.
