It was revealed that soon Minecraft players using PS 4 will finally be able to try VR mode. The exact release date is yet to be known, but developers promise that the update will be released no later than next month.

According to a post on PlayStation.Blog by Mojang, the new update won’t impact negatively the game’s content – the developers did not cut anything from the original version in favor of implementing VR. Note that MinecraftxPSVR won’t be released as a separate product, but as an in-game patch that will be automatically installed for those who already have the game on the PlayStation 4, completely for free.

There will be two possible modes available to use virtual reality – “Living room” and “Immersion“. The first is more unusual, where you can play on a large virtual monitor, being in an artificially created room, while the second is a more “traditional” approach to VR, which allows you to completely immerse yourself in the game “head-first” in every sense of the word.

PlayStation VR is not going to be the first VR platform available to players, previously released Gear VR and Oculus Rift were ahead of it in this regard – for them Minecraft VR has been available for several years. According to Mojang, it was due to the existing development experience for virtual reality systems that the company was able to painlessly finish this project, despite the coronavirus pandemic. SkyLabs developers have taken advantage of the past to the fullest to provide players with the highest level of passion.

Unfortunately, not all Mojang projects got rid of COVID-19 so easily – just remember the recent postponement of the Minecraft Festival to 2021.
