Gamescon 2020 took place on August 27-30 and was full of announcements and new trailers for various games. The MMORPG World of Warcraft from Blizzard was no exception – on August 28, on the opening day of the exhibition, the game trailer for the new Shadowlands expansion and the short animated film Afterlives: Bastion, revealing the history of one of the kingdoms of the Shadowlands, were released.
The game trailer reveals the gameplay and sheds light on the visual components of the new location – as the name suggests, it consists mostly of dark colors. The developers have said that this is the kingdom of immortal souls, in which they atone for sins from a past life. It is also important to note that the release date of the update was finally published in the trailer – October 27 of this year.
At the same time, Afterlives: Bastion tells about the inhabitants of the kingdom of the same name, who carry the souls of the dead. Also in the video, one of the main figures is an old acquaintance of players from the time of Warcraft 3 – the paladin Uther the Lightbringer, who is trying to let go of his past. In the future, Blizzard plans to release 3 more clips, which will presumably tell us about the other four kingdoms of the new WoW: Shadowlands update.
